Michael Mueller It's easy to see why an album like this could get overlooked when the artist responsible for it is a titan like Bert Jansch. Easy to see, but still in excusable.

Draw a straight line and you can connect Nick Drake's Pink Moon to Johnny Cash's American Recordings via this album.

Jansch's guitar work is always sublime, but on his, his singing really shines. So passionate and so alive.

Most artists would give their right arms to make this; Jansch barely released it. Astonishing. Favorite track: Read All About It.

Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this. Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?). There's a similarity in song writing between Richard Thompson and Hugh Cornwell which maybe isn't surprising as they went to the same school at the same time, although Thompson is older. Due to Thompson's association with John French of Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band I searched for his work on the Bandcamp app. French, Thompson and Cornwell all have albums on the app which I'm very pleased about. A hugely talented singer that at times sounds ancient and traditional and at others sounds like she just came in from another futuristic planet. The voice is crystaline and the pronuncation perfect. The music she made after returning to duty is timeless and gently finds it way in your inner worlds. RIP. Judy passed away July 12th 2020. Can't wait for Part 2 and 3 of this Anthology. sidhipangea
