Originally available at his shows as a limited edition release, ‘Live at the 12 Bar’ was recorded in 1995 at the legendary London music venue and is a fitting tribute not only to Bert’s virtuosity but to the renowned hub that supported folk music and other genres. The set brings together songs from ‘When The Circus Comes To Town’, that was released in the same year, along with the haunting reworking of ‘Blues Run The Game’ (written by Earth’s own Jackson C. Frank) and traditional folk songs ‘Curragh Of Kildare’ and ‘Lily Of The West’ which were staples in Jansch’s repertoire.
Bert’s meticulous performance captures an intimate gig that’s rich and brought to life by his spellbinding ability to hold a room. The warmth and silence from fans reminds us of what it was like to attend his shows and the true legend that we have lost.
Two decades after its first release, ‘Live At The 12 Bar’ is issued on vinyl for the first time. This exceptional record is the first release on Earth Recordings and comes as part of our new extensive reissue series of the Bert Jansch catalogue.

There's a similarity in song writing between Richard Thompson and Hugh Cornwell which maybe isn't surprising as they went to the same school at the same time, although Thompson is older.
Due to Thompson's association with John French of Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band I searched for his work on the Bandcamp app. French, Thompson and Cornwell all have albums on the app which I'm very pleased about. Only Thompson has released contemporary albums, much to his credit. yellowcakeuf6

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6

A hugely talented singer that at times sounds ancient and traditional and at others sounds like she just came in from another futuristic planet. The voice is crystaline and the pronuncation perfect. The music she made after returning to duty is timeless and gently finds it way in your inner worlds. RIP. Judy passed away July 12th 2020. Can't wait for Part 2 and 3 of this Anthology. sidhipangea
